John Legend, R&B singer of the hit song “Show Me,” is taking poverty action to new levels with his Show Me Campaign to help end world poverty through sustainable development. Legend launched the campaign last year, inspired by the theme from his song, in which he charts a conversation with God about the state of the world, and by a trip to Ghana. He said he came away from his trip to Africa with the realization that the fight against poverty was not too vast to get involved, and that change was actually possible.

Legend was also inspired by “The End of Poverty,” written by Jeffrey Sachs ” a renowned economist and director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University. The two came together last year to moderate a Q&A on global poverty, followed by a musical set by Legend.
