Back in August, we told you that Planet Green was casting for Tom Green’s game show.  Well, casts have been cast, and “Go for the Green” premiered a week ago or so.  See, cause green is the earth…and it’s money…and it’s the host’s last name…and, so, it all kinda goes together.

If you don’t have Planet Green at home, fear not!  There’s an online version of the game you can play, right now!  And it’s not particularly easy, to be honest.  And they seem to know it, at the website, too, because I think they’re taunting their readers:

So you think you know Green? Well Tom Green wants to see if you have the right stuff. Jump to the Go For The Green home game and see what you really know.

“What you really know”?  Well, I think I really know that you’ve got some attitude, internet website.  In fact, that makes me want to play you all the less.  And that has nothing to do with my failure to do very well the one time I did play.

Planet Green is casting for Tom Green’s new show, and wants you to be a part of it! As we mentioned back in April, one of the shows Planet Green has on tap for us is a Tom Green-hosted game show, and now it looks like they’re finally getting the show into gear. A casting call is being held for the show, which will be called “Green’s Got Game,” and wouldn’t you know it, I have the information right here!

Think you’re “green” enough to be on TV?!!! Are you “sustainable” under pressure?! Come audition for a new game show with TV & film star Tom Green on Discovery Channel’s network PLANET GREEN! If you’re environmentally conscious, always telling your friends/family to recycle, buy organic and favor the bike over the car, this is the show for you! Be part of the awareness and have fun competing for trips around the world!

The casting is taking place in Los Angeles, so some of you might not really be in the area, but if you are interested, you can takepart here to apply to join in on the crazy fun.

Summer is the busiest time of the year for moving, and like many of my environmentally-friendly compatriots in the throes of relocation, I’m faced with the dilemma of moving all of my earthly possessions from one state to another while accruing the least amount of carbon fallout possible. Throwing stuff away, finding packing materials, renting a gas-guzzling moving truck – it’s enough to drive one to the brink of eco-guilt. Still, with enough green-inspired forethought, moving doesn’t have to be a ruthless planetary burden. Here are 10 ways to reduce your impact while switching digs:

1) No need for new boxes - there are plenty of retailers that you can rescue boxes from, which would otherwise be thrown away. I pick up a few every couple of days from my local grocery store, but you can probably find them at just about any commercial venue since, well, most stuff comes in boxes. If you don’t feel like scouring the neighborhood for used cardboard, check out Usedcardboardboxes.com, a service that will deliver recycled boxes to you for a small fee. You might also consider RECOPACKS from Earthfriendlymoving.com, a zero-waste packing and moving system developed from recycled trash rescued from local landfills.

I love cooking shows and the Food Network and all that good stuff, so I’m pretty excited to tell you that Emeril Green, the new series starring Mr. Emeril Lagasse himself, will premiere on Planet Green tonight.   And not just one episode, either.   Starting at 8pm (or 7pm in the Central Time Zone, which is like Indiana or Tahiti or something), Planet Green will be airing six straight all-new episodes of Emeril Green.   Here’s where I would say “Bam!” or some other Emerilism to humorously tell you I find this news exciting, but let’s just leave that part out today.   Anyhow, Planet Green’s website describes the show as such:

arrested development posterHoly God, Arrested Development actually is going to be made into a movie. And, well, this is probably the greatest news since I realized if I wear sandals all the time I never have to tie my shoes. According to ew.com, which I deduce to be Entertainment Weekly’s website,

Jeffrey Tambor has confirmed published reports that a movie version of the Emmy-winning Fox comedy is in the works. After months of speculation, I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an Arrested Development movie,” Tambor told EW.com at the premiere of Hellboy II on Sunday.

Go naked and save the environment! Errr well, maybe not totally naked, but shedding a few layers means you don’t have to crank up the A/C as much, and would therefore use less energy.   A simple concept, but hey - whatever works, right?  The ad below, which appeared on Planet Green, features one woman’s adventures in naked environmentalism while doing a bit of nude banking. Keep the kids’ eyes covered!

In keeping with our celebration of the Planet Green TV network launch this week, let’s give props to the excellent eco-content on their website in the areas of fashion, food, home, tech, travel and work. Here are some suggestions for a little online weekend reading. Be sure to leave comments and link up to other notable green stories you’d like our readers to check out as well!

What could be more emblematic of our TakePart entertainment meets social action manifesto than a 24-hour eco-lifestyle television network? Fellow blogger Andy wrote about yesterday’s launch of Planet Green TV, and I thought I’d follow up with a review of just some of the shows you can find on the network. More detailed descriptions of their programming awaits, direct from the Planet Green TV website! —->

Today is the first full day of Planet Green broadcasting!   The channel went on the air last night at 6pm with the first episode of Hollywood Green with Maria Menounos (or as the website describes her, “the popular Maria Menounos”), and now is officially the only 24hour network devoted to green programming.   As we’ve previously mentioned, we can look forward to a lot of great stuff on this network.   Like, I don’t know, this:
