A while back I made mention of my love for the hit show Mortified. Well they’ve just released a very special new episode of The Mortified Shoebox Show titled “500 Miles to Hollywood.” In addition to being a very funny (and touching) piece from Mortified contributor Jason Smith, the episode features hilarious performances by Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings),James Denton (Desperate Housewives),Busy Phillips (Freaks & Geeks; ER), Kevin McDonald (Kids in the Hall) and Curtis Armstrong (Revenge of the Nerds; Ray). Check it out…

While Jason Smith’s adolescent screenplay got some credit when he was an adult, there are resources for budding young filmmakers.

I often wonder how my teenage life would have been different had I grown up online. I also fear how my children will grow up online. What dangers come from a life on the web? What remains sacred? Call me old fashion but I miss the days when parents had to break the lock on their kids diary. As an avid diary keeper, I still keep an overly dramatic, analytical, gossipy, insane, self-pitying, self-indulgent, journal hidden in my apartment ( a journal that I sort of, secretly hope will be published into memoirs once I am dead and gone so that my fans can see how deep and complex I really was/am). I have always found journaling to be therapeutic. And experts agree, journaling can enhance personal well-being. But now it seems, the art of private journaling seems to be replaced by the fad of public blogging. This is why I love Mortified.
