Julian Beaver is bringing his latest 3D pavement drawings to the streets of New Orleans. This renowned British street artist has been making pavement drawings for 10 years and has worked in the U.K., Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, the USA and Australia. Thanks to a grant from New Orleans’ Downtown Development District with and the J.W. Marriott Hotel, Beever was able to make a pavement drawing reflecting New Orleans’ city life. The theme for his drawing, which he calls “anamorphic illusions drawn in a special distortion in order to create an impression of 3 dimensions when seen from one particular viewpoint” was ” Louis Armstrong if I can get a likeness…If I can’t, then it’s just any musician!” Looks pretty Armstrong-like to me. But the drawing isn’t just in New Orleans or on the street. Beever sees the big picture (no pun intended):

It doesn’t worry me at all that this drawing will disappear after a couple of days in the rain, because the final product is the photograph… It’s that photograph that goes on the Internet. Then thousands of people will see it. It will be there forever. It doesn’t vanish, really. The drawing on the ground is just a vehicle.

So by checking out these non profits and blogs dedicated to revitalizing the arts in New Orleans. And here are some more amazing drawings by Beever.

And Check out more amazing illusions…
