Hollywood couple and new parents, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden created the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation which aims to provide direct assistance to and create meaningful opportunities for disadvantaged children, while bringing a ray of hope and encouragement into their lives via special entertainment events. Through their Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation’s MySpace page they hope to get support and get the word out about issues that affect underprivileged children.
The Richie-Madden’s latest and most innovative effort is the TEXT CHILD to 90999 campaign which raises funds to help kids through a simple text message. Each text message donates $5 to billed to your phone bill. Out of the $5.00 donation, $4.50 goes to The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation to support programs like the playground at Beyond Shelter, and $.50 goes to the Mobile Giving Foundation to support more text donate programs like this. This is the first time that a text campaign has been done by mass media texting!
