Okay how many more freebies do you need to make you vote? Isn’t our FREEdom to vote enough of a freebie perk? Yesterday I blogged about Babeland giving away free, yes FREE vibrators to people who voted! Well Ben & Jerry’s also wants to thank you for voting by giving you a free scoop of ice cream! Just go to participating scoop shops on November 4th from 5-8pm, and you’ll get a free scoop of ice cream.

So on your agenda for November 4th:
1) Vote (Feel good. You just let your voice be heard!)
2) Get a free vibrator (Feel even better!)
3) Get free ice cream (heck, you earned it with all that voting and vibrating)

Ben & Jerry’s says even if you did not vote they’ll give you a scoop anyway, but no complaining about the results…or the size of your scoop.

To thank all Americans for voting on election day, Ben and Jerry’s is offering a free scoop of their awesome ice cream. Simply show them your I Voted sticker, a photo of you in front of your polling station, your voting dance or just tell them you voted and the scoop is yours.

If you haven’t yet been inspired to vote, free ice cream should do it! And they’re right, there has never been a sweeter reason to show up to the polls.

Ben & Jerry’s and Greenpeace have teamed up to bring America its first Cleaner, Greener Freezer. Refrigerators and freezers have an enormous impact on Global Warming through their use of harmful Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and other harmful gases, known collectively as F-gases. Cumulatively, F-Gases account for nearly one fifth of the global warming pollution spewed into our atmosphere. Worse yet, HFCs pollution has much more staying power in the atmosphere than Carbon Dioxide (CO2), causing nearly 1400 times the damage CO2 does when measured over 100 years periods.

Greenpeace has long promoted hydrocarbon as a natural, environmentally friendly substance to replace HFCs as the cooling element in refrigeration units. The organization has made great headway with hydrocarbon in both the European and Asian markets and is now spearheading the use of the new technology in the United States in partnership with those environmentally conscious ice cream merchants, Ben & Jerry’s. The freezers are currently in test use in Ben & Jerry’s retail ice cream shops in the Washington DC, Vermont and Boston areas, while the company seeks EPA approval to spread the technology far & wide. Once EPA approval is attained Ben & Jerry’s will share the technology with the ultimate goal of making Hydrocarbon freezer and refrigeration units the standard in the United States.

Many folks look at summer as a time to indulge in cinema that is fun, thrilling and large. Unfortunately though, somewhere along the way this came to mean cinema that is fun, thrilling, large and NOT VERY GOOD. Our summer blockbusters, minus a few, have, in this blogger’s opinion, consistently been going downhill and also it seems, getting made at a much more rapid pace. Leaving us with a lot of crap to choose from for our frivolous summer movie fun. Not to mention that ticket prices are constantly on the rise, with a typical summer movie now costing 12 dollars here in New York City.

We rely on honey bees for one-third of our food supply and sadly honey bees are disappearing at an astounding rate which could cause a major food crisis. In an effort to educate consumers about this potential risk, Hagen Dazs has created Help The Honey Bees campaign featuring a site filled with everything you need to know about the honey bee crisis. Additionally Haagen Dazs has created a new flavor called Vanilla Honey Bee as a “tribute to these essential creatures.” When you purchase this new flavor a portion of the profits will go to honey bee and sustainable research programs at Pennsylvania State University and the University of California at Davis.

britney-spears-crying.jpg

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream”including Britney Spears, apparently. Who wouldn’t want to scarf down a pint of Ben & Jerry’s after having your private hell turned into a media circus? But with her every move scrutinized, meltdown-mode Britney can’t even self-medicate and chill out with a scoop of Chunky Monkey in the psych ward without getting picked on by PETA, whose founder, Ingrid Newkirk, felt compelled to send a “friendly” letter to Britney’s parents:

Dear James and Lynne: On behalf of everyone at PETA, please accept our best wishes for Britney, and I hope you’ll allow me to share some information that could be helpful to you in your admirable efforts to look after her mental and emotional health. The media have speculated that Britney might be suffering from schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. I certainly realize that the media’s reports might have no basis in fact, but I’d rather send this information than not”just in case it could help.

We also have heard that Britney asked for ice cream while she was in the hospital. There could, in fact, be a connection between her diet and her mental-health problems. Numerous reports indicate that in bipolar patients who have hidden dairy sensitivities (a fairly common condition), the disorder can worsen if the patient consumes dairy products.
