Oprah Winfrey, Her Royal Highness of Daytime Television, has announced on her blog that she’s going vegan! Well, for 21 days as part of a cleanse, but that’s still big news in the vegan world, and will certainly bring about some positive exposure of the vegan lifestyle to millions of viewers worldwide. On her blog, Oprah said that after rereading the book, A New Earth, she was inspired to eliminate meat and dairy from her diet for a short period of time.

How can you say you’re trying to spiritually evolve, without even a thought about what happens to the animals whose lives are sacrificed in the name of gluttony?’ she wrote. [accesshollywood.com]

How YOU doing?Harrison Ford waxed his chest a while back to raise awareness of the destruction of the rain forests, and I wrote about it and we were all kind of confused. Well, luckily, youtube is here to set everything straight. Yep, we have the video online now of Harrison Ford being interviewed by a former Spice Girl, and then having his chest waxed. If it weren’t Access Hollywood, I’d swear this was some sort of Warholian art project to see how far the American people can be taken for a ride. But it’s real. Video, after the jump.

I wonder why he's grimacing.You know how sometimes, you have so many things to say about something, you’re actually rendered speechless?  This is one of those times.   Because, you see, to highlight the “pain involved in deforestation,” Harrison Ford went ahead and had his chest waxed.   On Access Hollywood.   With a Spice Girl there to document.   Obviously.   The 65(!)-year old is a dedicated environmentalist, having worked with the group Conservation International for fifteen years.   His hope is that this action shocks people into thinking green.   Which I suppose is a totally logical leap in logic.
