Yesterday, YouTube started airing full length CBS content (with ads) after teaming up with network. This is likely only the beginning as YouTube expects more partnerships to follow. The CBS content will be old and new shows, including Star Trek, the premiere episodes of Dexter and Californication and episodes of The Young and the Restless.
The partnership comes on the heels of other sites like Hulu that have teamed with NBC and other networks - proving that a desire for said content does exist. I have mixed feelings on this but one thing I’m glad about is that the CBS shows will be shown in a higher quality than most YouTube videos (which is awful). Although this begs the question “why can’t my videos be shown in high quality?” That question has led me to use other video sharing site (like Vimeo) instead of YouTube.
Also of concern is the fact that major networks, owned by major corporations, are beginning to have more and more control over the internet. YouTube is awesome because of the YOU. Because it is truly a channel for everyone to share news, thoughts and even their pets.
What do you think?
I admit I’m excited that I can watch Star Trek but I worry about keeping the internet free. So on that note, takepart and get involved with Save the Internet - a group that is fighting to keep the internet on our side!
Also - watch some STAR TREK!

GREAT POINT! Though the internet is the new frontier for major networks and corporations that own them, I hope there won’t be an internet “Manifest Destiny”. But it’s already begun, Fox owns MySpace and Google, YouTube.
