The best way to cure a hangover is obviously not get one in the first place, and one organic boozer claims that drinking eco-friendly spirits will prevent just that. In a “scientific” experiment involving an evening of Lower East Side bar hopping, Sean Evans put organic alcohol to the test by drinking the exact same combination of drinks - organic and their non-organic counterparts - on different evenings to see which imbued the worst hangover.

On Night #1 he spent several hours knocking down the best in organic spirits - the alcohol, the fruit juice mixers, and even the garnishes were 100% organic. One scotch, a rum and coke, a tequila shot, a gin and tonic, a merlot, an açaí berry liqueur, a vodka cranberry, another scotch, a beer and two glasses of champagne later, he made his way back to his apartment and waited for the effects to settle in. Find out how he faired after the JUMP—>

Then, after winning the battle to locate home, I awaited the morning, keeping one foot on the floor to stop the room from spinning.

And it wasn’t that bad. There was no headache, and at first everything felt groggy. But despite being slightly slow, after a quick shower nearly all symptoms had dissipated. There was no nausea, no stomach pain; no normal hangover feelings.

On Night #2, Evans knocked back the same non-organic concoction, and had this to say about the morning after:

Everything felt sluggish and slow, and there was a dull headache, which lingered for a few hours. My churning stomach was quelled only after lying down for an extra hour, and several bottles of water were needed before an attempt to truly start the day could occur.

I’m sure Evans will have no problem finding other lovers of…err…science to take up the task of proving his theory true or false, but in the meantime, it seems to make sense. No added chemicals, toxins and pesticides will definitely make for a better drinking experience all around. And of course, it’s better for the planet (make sure to recycle those beer bottles!).
