Oh Manny Ramirez…
I remember Manny when he was on the Cleveland Indians - before he was a household name. The entire Cleveland community watched Manny’s power quickly develop and boy did we have fun seeing it happen. Then he did the unthinkable. He left us for Boston!
Today he moved on yet again, this time to the Dodgers in a last minute trade. Ahh well… such is the world of sports these days.
According to the LA Times blog Ramirez was a bit hard on his Boston bosses last week:
‘The Red Sox don’t deserve a player like me. During my years here I’ve seen how they have mistreated other great players when they didn’t want them to try to turn the fans against them.
‘The Red Sox did the same with guys like Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez, and now they do the same with me. Their goal is to paint me as the bad guy. I love Boston fans, but the Red Sox don’t deserve me. I’m not talking about money. Mental peace has no price and I don’t have peace here.’
I imagine there should be a lot of happy folks today - Manny included.
