You have to see HBO’s “Recount.” It’s an eye-opening and entertaining look at all that Florida election recount drama. The acting is amazing (Laura Dern as Katherine Harris is spot-on and hilarious) and the story, well, for me this film was a shocking and disapointing lesson in US politics and judicial loop holes.
Starring Kevin Spacey, Bob Balaban, Ed Begley, Jr., Laura Dern, John Hurt, Denis Leary, Bruce McGill, and Tom Wilkinson, Recount brings viewers behind the scenes at the controversial Florida recount. This illuminating, hugely entertaining film pulls back the veil on the headlines to explore the human drama surrounding the most controversial presidential election in U.S. history. [HBO.com]
I am not one to fiercely debate politcs. I am passionate about human rights and specific issues, but I do not feel comfortable really getting into major political discussions. You could say I am a bit of a political-phobe. I watch. I listen. I care. I vote. That’s about it. However “Recount” empowered me. It made me angry. It made feel cheated. It made me excited that filmmakers are exposing and explaining a history-changing issue to the masses ( yes even “political-phobes” will “get it”).
