Public Alpha: have suggestions or feedback?
Val Kilmer has signed onto the eco-monster movie The Thaw, which will begin shooting mid-June. The film also stars Martha MacIsaac, of Superbad fame, as Kilmer’s daughter. Here’s the scoop from Ecorazzi:
A group of student-scientists stumble upon a thawing Woolly Mammoth in a melting ice cap. Unfortunately, the Mammoth is packing a deadly parasite that had laid dormant (and hungry we might add) for thousands of years. One-by-one, everyone becomes infected, all hell breaks loose, and well, you get the picture. According to the synopsis, “soon the survivors are left with only one choice - to make the ultimate sacrifice and burn everything to the ground… including themselves.”
Errr…I’m confused. If they’re burning everyone and everything to the ground, including themselves, then who’s the ultimate sacrifice for? Oh well, I hope they don’t forget to bring the marshmallows! Moving on, director Mark A. Lewis had this to say about the film’s commentary on global warming:
“I think ultimately where this story comes from is the idea, or, more accurately, the feeling of vulnerability…I don’t consider it my job to tell people about how or why we’re fucking up the world. The older I get, the more vulnerable I see people are. Global warming is a very scary part of our place in time on this revolving rock in the middle of God knows where. I consider it my job to translate, into a story, the emotions experiencing around an issue that is extremely interesting to me. Hopefully people will find the result enjoyable, and perhaps even cathartic.” [dreadcentral.com]

This should be good, but not many have heard about it yet. Why?
Oh, someone might steal the idea for the film, I forgot.
