Public Alpha: have suggestions or feedback?
Tom Waits, for my money one of the best musicians ever, has gone to paperless ticketing for his Glitter and Doom tour, which kicks off June 17 in Phoenix. And tickets are on sale today! Here’s the amazing press conference Waits had to announce the tour.
The concept of paperless ticketing is simple. Buy tickets online, show up at the box office with your credit card and ID, get your tickets. The decision to go paperless actually serves two very good purposes. One, it alleviates scalping, which Waits believes ruins the concert experience. But more importantly, the paperless ticketing obviously saves some trees. Waits lives way up in hippie Sonoma County where the mainstream newspaper is called the Press Democrat, so you know he knows a thing or two about recycling and waste and redwoods and whatnot.
You can
and go see Waits live in concert, even if you do have to pay Ticketmaster $38 in service charges for the pleasure. I mean, the man puts a microphone underneath the box he stands on so you can hear the stomping better. That’s just awesome. And, again, the saving paper thing.
