In Houston, Texas a Madison High student named Marche Taylor was not let into her prom because her revealing, skimpy dress violated a school dress code. When she asked for her ticket money back, school officials called the cops who then placed her in handcuffs and escorted out of the prom venue! (Check out the news video footage at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/)

“She shook her head, she was like you are not getting into this prom,” said Taylor. “We were arguing back and forth because I wanted to know why I can’t get into my prom.”

Even after offering to provide more cover, Taylor was still denied access to the final soiree of the school year.At that point, Taylor said she was furious. After all this was her senior prom. She argued if she couldn’t get in, she wanted her money back.Things got so bad, the next thing she knew, someone had called the police. Officers showed up, handcuffed her and escorted her out. [Dallas Morning News]

Okay fine, the school has dress codes. However arresting a girl at her prom? That’s way tackier than this showgirl style frock (yeah, I’m not so into the dress). Is a bare belly really so offensive to a bunch of high schoolers who probably see much more skin on TRL? What do you think?

  1. There’s nothing wrong with that girl’s dress. People wear less! Give me a break!

  2. WTF ! ! ! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT DAMN DRESS! SHE HAS A HELLUVA LAWSUIT COMING TO HER, AND IF SHE NEEDS A LAWYER I GOT THE PERFECT ONE FOR HER.

  3. Everyone on here that thinks that the dress is approriate has a serious problem. So, if it is okay for her to wear that dress then it is okay for all of the young guys to treat her like a stripper or slut. When you dress like that you are looking for that type of response from young horny boys. The sad part is that the mom and dad allowed her to walk out of the house with that dress on. What happen to Proms being a formal event with a formal attire. This was street walking attire. Absolutely sad on the parents part. Kids will only go as far as you let them, so mom and dad you just probably stop your child from getting a high level coporate job. Why, because know companies search the internet for things like this before they hire you. Why would a company want to hire a hoochie. Sad, day for the parents.

  4. Ok, i had a tiny hole in the front of my dress under my breasts. and they werent going to let me into my prom. god forbid someone wore that dress to my prom. its inappropriate to wear to prom. the club is another storyy. schools dress codes suck. turn on the tv and u see naked men and women….. damn. we also DO go to the beach lol. Yal crazy. sucks she didnt get to go to her senior prom.

  5. IT A TIME AND A PLACE TO WEAR SOMETHING LIKE BUT A PROM IS NOT THE PLACE FOR THAT TRY SHE SHOULD HAVE MADE THE BOTTOM A LITTLE BIT LONGER

  6. ^What time and place is it ok for a 17/18 yr old. What is she trying ot achieve besides some hormone crazy boy wanting to get his freak on…

  7. Look seriously the girl looks like a prostitute actually a stripper. WHAT WERE HER PARENTS THINKING. I am from houston so i have been hearing all the drama. THE SCHOOL SAID DRESSCODES WOULD BE INSPECTED. dont think i am racist because I AM A BLACK WOMAN WHO ACTUALLY LIVES IN SUGARLAND, ACROSS FROM WHERE SHE HAD HER PROM. Look honestly the news left out information because, clearly the girl made a scene, because she was angry. And knowing the area she was in i am not suprised the police were called. She was completly inappropriate. I am 21 so i just had prom a few years ago and no one was like that. I have friends that attended the same school as the girl, and they said the students were dressed a lil trashy. So it just ended up being unfortunate for her that she was in a more conservative area and acting a fool and anyone seeing her dressed like that arguing in a hotel would think she is a hooker and call the police. Sucks for her but seriously girly u look so inappropriate. I even asked my brother who is a straight man, and he said the same thing the girl should have been arrested because of her behavior plus her clothes. she should save that for the private showing she gives her significant other. SHE CAN SUE ALL SHE WANTS, SHE KNEW BETTER!

  8. Byron you are on point. The only problem I see with your statement is the assumption that daddy is in the picture. I am willing to bet six bits to a bottle of piss, that daddy is no where in site. I have two little girls, and I know that day is not far away. I can say right now nether of mine would make it to the front door alive with a hot ghetto mess like that. Validate these girls at home so they don’t look to world to do what you wouldn’t.

  9. Hey great prom dress. Makes her look like a stripper. Fashoin Faux Paus perhaps, but to be arrested for wearing it? bah. Isn’t there bigger fish to fry?

  10. the dress is not a prom dress,,and i wouldn’t let my daughter go to the prom dressed like that,,,she had to know it was going ot draw attention to her,,,,she looks like a ho/stripper,,,not a senior in high school,,,,and where are her parents,,,they think it is ok,,,,and for those you mention the beach/tv etc,,,,a bathing suit is appropriate for the beach,,,but wouldn’t be for a prom,,,and as far as tv,,,,i haven’t seen a 17 yr old dressed like that,,,,ugly dress and not fitting a young high school girl

  11. This is just a clear case of telivision influence on this child. She has watched toomany episodes of dancing with the stars and other ballroom dance programs on channel 11 WTTW chicago. There are kids that are her age that wear the same type of costumes, KEYword “costum”. I think its a little harrsh to say she looks like a prostitute or a stripper when ballroom dancers wear even less.I don’t think the costume was appropriate for the occasion, but I think this young lady may need a ballroom dance mentor , so that she earns the right to wear those types outfits.

  12. We’re hearing this up in Canada…and I gotta go with Kalisha and Eden’s comments(Very nicely worded, Eden)…Which part of “Dress codes will be inspected/enforced…” didn’t the “young lady” understand??? And if she wasn’t let in , then don’t make a big scene and get your money back on Monday……There is a difference between “clubbing apparel” and SCHOOL PROM dresses……
And …she continues to fuel and perpetuate the BTV, misogenistic, denegrating attitude towards young (black) women that we have tried so hard to eliminate.

  13. I too do not think the young girl’s costume was appropriate. I also feel that since a dress code was published for those students going to the prom - than those students should have adhered to the dress code. I can’t imagine what her parent or parents were thinking when she left the house dressed as she was. I would also wonder what her date’s parents thought of the outfit as well. The prom is a special time for young girls moving on to becoming young women - as it is for young boys moving on to becoming young men. It’s a time to dress to the nines (as they use to say) the young men in their tuxs and the young women in their gowns and feeling like they should look wonderful. I do think that the News reporting that she was handcuffed for her dress was totally making a story up. I don’t think she was handcuffed for her dress (or lack of a dress - it appeared to be a few pieces of material put together). I do think she was arrested and handcuffed because she became loud and rowdy. It was a prom - I do feel that had she gone home and changed into something more appropriate, she should have been allowed to attend then. After all she had paid - we all know these proms are not inexpensive.

  14. i love the dressss!! can i wear it for prom on the 28th

  15. I think that is crazy u should be able to wear whatever u wanted to wear to prom its yo last year its not like they are going to see u. So i think that the whole thing is done and they should give her. Her money back cause she didn’t get to prom they ruined her whole not over something that was really dumb and uncalled for.

  16. Point number ONE: The dress: inappropriate, to say the least. If you are of age and attending a function that is not sponsored by a school, then go for it! She signed a dress code contract (which is standard practice) and PROM IS OPTIONAL!!!

Point number TWO: I am 100% sure that the police did not intervene because of her dress. They came into the picture when she threw a “fit” that escalated to a point where the adults in charge of the prom could not tolerate the inappropriate behavior.

Wake up parents and community members!! No one is “after” your children. Educators, for the most part, are decent and want the very best for the students. If children are able to act however they would like with no repercussions, then what are we teaching these children?

  17. This girls dress is a little bit inappropriate but not so bad to be kicked out of prom.
It is not like she is naked or anything even if she wanted boys attention then let it be.
My dress is something i want boys to pay attention to.
She should have not been arrested and should get a refund.
It was custom made so maybe it was her design.
I think we are in no place to call her a stripper.
I wish i could pull off a dress like that and look good in it.
If she can look good in it then she should go on with her bad self lmao. -

  18. She failed the dress code, pure and simple. Years ago, it was considered trailer trash to wear heels and jeans, now tons of women do just that. Is the dress revealing? Yes it is. That’s how she wanted it to be. I don’t think she looks like trash or a hooker or a stripper. She’s just a young girl who wanted to flaunt her body and the censors booted her out. Kids wear all kinds of things to prom like duct tape and bubble wrap, and while I don’t find it appealing, it is what they want. Just a few years ago, a boy tried to wear a prom dress to prom and someplace else a girl wanted to wear a suit and it was an issue. I think the dress issue has been blow out of proportion. Would she have been told to go home had she worn a J-Lo type gown or how about Toni Braxton’s long number with the slit up to there? Today’s teens don’t always have a clear sense of what’s sexy or trashy and sometimes neither do adults. I grew up in a small town and it still is a big deal to be “dressed to the nines” for your prom. Today’s teens want to be “sexy”. It really is a sign of the times. Perhaps she was given too much latititude in selecting the gown and should have been given some help.

I think that she got upset and rowdy and the police were called as a precaution. The presence of the authorities did not settle her down and she was arrested. I am currently shopping for wedding gowns. I saw a frock just like what this girl wore to prom. It might be ok in Vegas, but my Dc family would have a problem with it. Some lines were crossed by the girl, the adults, and the police. No one is a winner here.

  19. This is just plain old rediculous. I am shocked at reading some of these comments. That dress is innapproriate for prom or any other function other than prostituting. This is a school prom. Why would anyone think that dress was appropriate for that occassion. She is a little girl showing way too much skin. He parents should not have let her leave the house looking like a tramp. Besides, the school had a dress code, it’s her fault she didn’t adhere to it. FOLLOW THE RULES.

  20. This is just plain old rIdiculous. I am shocked at reading some of these comments. That dress is inapproriate for prom or any other function other than prostituting. This is a school prom. 22. That dress iz not wut dat iz sweetheart! Where wuzz yo mama and nem wen you put dat on? But hey do yo gurl if dats wut you like den wear it… You not a big gurl so gone and strut yo stufff…. Just dont do it at prom…. Lol!

  23. There was a dress code. She should have followed the guidelines. She should have been taught at home that a “dress(and I use the lerm loosely)” like that for a CHILD (YES, I SAID IT!) is not only inappropriate, but downright indecent. Situations like this are what we get when current trends lean toward vulgarity.

  24. All I have to say is for one thing the dress is ugly and why in da world would you want to wear a dress like that to your HIGH school prom. Why would her parent even let her walk out the house with that dress on?? My mother would never in a million years wear a dress like that let alone go to my prom. I don’t think she should get her money back either because im sure she knew in the first place that she couldn’t wear that dress to prom.

  25. Young folks are getting out of hand. Stop watching these fairy tale videos and degrading your bodies by wearing this kind of stuff. She does not need to be whipped her parents or parent does. To let this child leave the house with that on is just a SIN. It is NEGLECT– not giving a dang if your child comes back home pregnant or with an STD. People have posted comments on here saying nothing is wrong with this dress and tha tis even more sad because there is something wrong with that dress. A person the wrong age has it on, it looks like something on COPS when a prositute is getting arrested, it is too revealing- - it is inappropriate. You don’t have to dress skipmpy for a young man to notice you and if he notices you with that on- - all he wants is to take it off– get what he can get and move on to the next skimpy dress- - THAT IS ANOTHER ENTIRE TOPIC ALONE!!!

OPEN OUR MINDS AND CLOSE OUR LEGS!!!!!!

  26. I will try to translate for LALA…well the best I can anyways. I truly hope this was a joke.

She Said-That dress iz not wut dat iz sweetheart! Where wuzz yo mama and nem wen you put dat on? But hey do yo gurl if dats wut you like den wear it… You not a big gurl so gone and strut yo stufff…. Just dont do it at prom…. Lol!

She meant- That Dress is not what that is sweetheart!(still doesn’t make sense to me) Where was your Mother and family when you put that on? But hey do your girl( I seriously can’t figure this one out) If thats what you like then wear it. You are not a big girl, so go on and strut your stuff. Just don’t do it at the prom. Laugh out loud.

  27. You look a hot mess. Where was your mama at on that day. They should have kicked you out of school! What is wrong with you teenagers today. You have no class at all! It’s a shame. I have 2 teenagers daughters and i made sure they didn’t look like that on their prom night. They wore stylish dresses and they were a little revealing, but they still looked good and not trashy.

  28. I think that the dress would have been somewhat okay if you could not see through it. The material the dress was made of was some kind of sheer material which clearly showed the girls nipple and surrounding area. Her parents were also at fault for letting her go to the prom dressed the way she was. I have to admit my daughters’ dress was a bit revealing also, but you could not see through it. I think that’s why this young girl had a problem.

  29. This is the problem with our youths today. They have a serious lack of discipline, self-respect, and care in the world. For anyone to say it’s OK for a child to walk out of the house like that is wrong. She should learn to love and respect herself instead of trying to get some boys attention. Her people should be slapped hard for letting this happen to themselves and their child. Now we have national attention on another case of ignorance.

  30. Having graduated from the Houston area and attending two differen’t high school proms, this dress is completely inappropriate and trashy. I have never seen one like it. It looks like the girl stitched it together in her own living room. As far as club clothes, I have never seen anyone wear anything similar to this! And to argue with anyone who thinks she shouldn’t have been arrested, I beg to differ. She wasn’t arrested for the clothes she was wearing. She probably got all fired up, acting a fool, drawing attention to herself and the situation (more attention that wasn’t drawn to her already by that dress), and arguing and disrespecting authority. In which case, I’m glad she got arrested. I do however agree she should have gotten her money back. Clearly this girl has no respect for herself and authority if she wore this dress and caused such a scene. I feel bad for the parents to raised her to think it’s okay to do that. And in response to JW, not all “youth today” have a “serious lack of discipline” and “self-respect.” Unless you know every single one of us, (WHICH YOU DON’T) you have no right to make such a generalization on young adults. Most of us go to college and are generally GOOD KIDS. Bottom line, this girl is trashy, raised terribly, and I’m GLAD she got arrested and couldn’t attend. Anyone who acts like such a child in dire need of attention shouldn’t be in high school anyway! It’s just sad that all this publicity is giving her exactly what she wanted. ATTENTION.

  31. hello i think that a girl like of her age should try to be a lady not a tramp………. she absolutely looks like a hooker i think this goes out to the film actresses who wear revealing dresses , wait a minute and all hollywood women , see wat kinda example ur becoming for growing up girls
they tend to follow fashion on tv and thats wat exactly the little girl is doing. so people u cant blam her she thought the stars get famous with their dresses and its probably right. the less u wear the more hip the star. so stars try be an example for all youth. also i wouldnt say she isnt already a prostitute, her parents should be blamed for doing this to her no parental advisory ……………. damn them. girl get your act back on before men start treating you like shit

  32. WRONG! WRONG! OH SO DAM WRONG! U LOOK LIKE A STRIPPER FOR REAL. I WOULDNT LET U IN DAT PROM EITHER!

  33. Ok. This girl’s dress is definitely inappropriate, especially for her age and a formal event. But it isn’t enough to be put out of prom for! She paid for her ticket so she should’ve gotten a refund or something. Besides people wear the most worst things out, this can’t even compare because it isn’t that terrible as everyone is making it seems!

  34. The dress is extremely revealing and she should not be allowed to wear it to PROM! Prom is formal event. She could’ve went home to change or something! I feel bad that she could’nt go so i would definately try to help her come up with some kind of alternative to get her changed, but Prom is special. She SHOULDN’T have missed it. She should get her money back.

  35. First off, this girl lives with her grandmother, who thought the dress was fine. Her parents are not in the picture.
Second, not only is the dress inappropriate for a prom, it looks totally skanky. She may have the body to pull it off, but it doesn’t look good, its certainly not flattering, not for a prom anyway.
Everyone who supports this girls decision to wear this dress should perhaps look at it from another viewpoint. What about all the others who adhered to the dress code who didn’t really want to look at this girl in her streetwalker wear? What about their rights? Many of us want to participate in social and cultural events without having to worry about someone having a clothing malfunction. Some of us really don’t have interest in seeing others half or totally naked at a public event. What about our rights?
However, I do think she should get a refund for her prom ticket. She should not be reimbursed for the total amount she spent for the evening, because clearly she showed questionable judgement. But if the school officials were not going to let her into an event she paid for, they should give her back her money.

  36. wtf?? c’mon give me break look at her who in the whole freakin’ damn world would take that to the prom, Girl is the PROM!! is not a party stripper i know the schools dress code sucks but THAT!!! hell nah thats what u get for trying to be the center of attention haha

  37. To be honest this is far from the most shocking prom dresses I’ve seen.  If the school has a particular dress code, I suppose it has to be enforced but a lot of girls are getting away with a lot worse.

  38. Well, I had my junior 8th Grade Prom and they clearly told us what they didn’t want. They said, “When you get to the venue, we don’t want it to look like we are havin a 50 Cent video shoot, Okay ladies?” I kinda laughed at that because I knew some girl at my school was going to show up, with a skimpy dress and act crazy because she couldn’t get into her 8th Grade Prom and I also knew that the teachers and staff that were there would’nt hesitate to kick her out. I know how she feels because she wanted to be different, but she took it way to far, I wanted to be different so I dressed like a Goth/Rockstar for my prom, and that was to a certain extent but she took it way to far. I blame the parents, they’re the ones who bought the dress for her and there the ones who should be blamed. It was a custom made dress, its pretty in all but just all around revealing. Show some respect for yourself, be a role-model you know, there are 12 year old girls out here ready to have babies, and you’re only giving them all the more reason to say okay, if she can dress like that then I can to and that’s only fueling the fire. I am not trying to ridicule you on being an individual but, that was just to much, when I heard this story on Channel 7 News (I live in Florida) my prom was only days away, I was shocked, when they said that a young girl was arrested for her prom dress I thought, Oh well maybe their just exaggerating, but when I saw the dress I was thinking, ‘What The Heck’. Honey, the dress was cute but not for your senior prom, maybe after your senior prom. Bummer that you could’nt get in, I know you were pissed off.

  39. there’s just a little exaggeration here. that girls ticket should be refunded instead. that police thing is waaaay too much. maybe the school princial orschool director could have just talked to this girl after the prom and gave proper sanctions instead of denying her of her ticket refund when she asked for it the first time when she was denied entry to the prom event. School should be place where students were shown proper manners and decency.
