This past Thursday, those of you that watch The Office might have seen Dwight Schrute buy Andy Helms’ Nissan Xterra in a scene some might describe as comically awkward. And then Jim said something witty and sarcastic and Michael said something terrible and we all chuckled. And then your one friend kept insisting that the British version was better, seriously, you just have to see it.

Anyhow, not the point, and don’t you dislike people who do things like that anyway? What I’m really trying to get at is that the actual owner of the Xterra has put the car up for auction on ebay, so that s/he can replace it with a hybrid. Good call, soon-to-be-former SUV owner. In the business, we call that “knowing when to cash your chips in.” Unless you’re in the grammar business, where we call that “knowing at which point to cash in your chips.”

If you have an extra 15k-plus sitting around, and are lucky enough to be the high bidder on the car, along with, you know, an Xterra, the seller is

“also including some goodies like a cast-signed script from the episode the car starred in, actual sides used during filming, and a prop handled by Dwight. This could be anything from pepper spray to a taser.” [ecorazzi.com]

Now, in good conscience, I can’t tell you to take action and buy an Xterra, even if it was once touched by, most very possibly, Brian Baumgartner. However, in the spirit of this car’s seller, I recommend you and see what cars are ranked the greenest of the year, and maybe you then might want to auction off your gas guzzler for something more eco-friendly? I dunno.

Also, the British version was better. American one’s great, but, come on. Just saying.
