April 22nd is Earth Day! People are uniting around the globe on issues of climate change, wildlife preservation, water supplies, and more! It’s time to celebrate all the hard work you’ve done for the environment this year, and to make new goals to improve upon our environmental progress. These top 10 ways to take action will put you on the right path. Remember, everyday is Earth Day, and a new day to do something good for the planet. Let’s get started!

1) at the Arbor Day Foundation, and learn how to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. Planting trees is an excellent way to offset your own carbon footprint. Visit your nearest nursery, or even shop for trees on their website.

2) at Project Switch, and make the pledge to switch all of your inefficient incandescent light bulbs to money & energy-saving compact fluorescents.

3) and replace your standard household cleaners with safe, non-toxic, biodegradable and cruelty-free ones. I’m a fan of Mrs. Meyer’s products, which offer a variety of cleaners for every task ” from kitchen to pets to the baby’s room. GreenHome.com is another great resources for organic all-purpose cleaners and supplies.

4) and tell the EPA to allow states to reduce global warming pollution from vehicles by signing the petition at SaveOurEnvironment.org. For more on this issue, click here, or check out the video below.

9) and view over 70 fact sheets about imperiled and endangered species, animals and habitats from the Defenders of Wildlife organization. You can then and take the Defender’s Earth Day 2008 Pledge to do your part to protect national wildlife refuges.

10) The latest study from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has bad news for us in terms of how our negative environment-related habits will impact most regions in the world by the year 2020. by viewing this interactive map, and see what will happen (if we don’t do something now) in the areas of water supply, wildlife, plants, ecosystems and weather around the globe.
