The Go Green Expo in NYC is just one great way to celebrate our fast-approaching Earth Day. The expo will feature the latest in eco-friendly products and services, as well as interactive seminars, speeches, an eco-film festival, and even an eco-friendly fashion show. Green marketplace spending exceeded $200 billion dollars in 2006, and there’s no sign of it slowing down. Educating consumers about green alternatives is an important part of lessening our environmental impact.

The Go Green Expo aims not only to inspire us to incorporate more positive environmentalism in our everyday lives, but also to change the way these types of events are produced and managed. The expo is using a “zero carbon footprint” approach to event production by using recycled signs, biodegradable table coverings, compostable banners and more.

“There are almost always environmentally-friendly alternatives to everyday tasks and products,” states Go Green Expo’s CEO, Bradford Rand, “we hope to enlighten, entertain and educate both consumers and business owners with ways in which they can do their small part to change the current climate crisis that faces our world today.”

Go Green Expo will be held at the Hilton New York Hotel on April 26th and 27th. Special guest speakers include Allen Hershkowitz, a senior scientist at the Natural Resources Defense Council; Ana Paul Taveres, the director of development at the Rainforest Alliance; and Ken Rother, President and COO of Treehugger. One Response to “Go Green Expo in NYC”

  1. Most people left the expo with a huge bag filled with pamphlets, brochures, magazines and a wide variety of product samples. I find a degree of irony here; this is meant to be an eco-friendly show and there was more paper distributed than one person would receive from four months of junk mail. Did some people miss the point of the expo?

All attendees received a re-usable bag, (I wonder how many recipients will use theirs again?) It’s made from polypropylene though, which is a totally unnatural non-woven material. I’m thinking that this isn’t the most recycled material known to man – BIG NOTE to Expo organizers to opt for a more eco-friendly recycled and/or sustainable material next time!

The Go Green Expo was an excellent start. Many of the attendees were already an educated eco-conscious audience. This expo will need to find ways of luring in not-so educated individuals.

I have written a whole load more about this expo, if you want to read it all then go to:
