Public Alpha: have suggestions or feedback?
On March 23 VH1 will air Aftermath: The Station Fire Five Years Later, an edited version of the four-hour concert “Phoenix Rising,” a benefit concert to assist the Station Family Fund (SFF).
The SFF generates and dispenses monies needed to ease the medical bills of those who survived Rhode Island’s infamous Station nightclub fire, a blaze that killed 100 rock fans and injured another 200 on Feb 20, 2003.
The “Phoenix Rising” concert was held on February 25th at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence and was co-organized by the group Tesla, who lost an associate in the tragedy. In addition to raising funds for the survivors of the fire the concert aimed to keep the people and the problems left in the wake of the blaze in the public’s memory.
The concert line-up included John Rich, of Big & Rich; Gretchen Wilson; Dierks Bentley; Randy Owen, of Alabama; and American Idol’s Kellie Pickler “” and a rock segment “” featuring an acoustic performance by Staind frontman Aaron Lewis; Twisted Sister; Winger; Tesla; Kevin Max; Stryper; Tom Scholz and Gary Pihl, formerly of the platinum-selling group Boston; Carmine Appice’s SLAM!; Danny Seraphine and more.
