Women’s NIT takes on a whole new meaning, thanks to the Knit-In for Peace being arranged by the Granny Peace Brigade. On Wednesday, March 19th, at 12 noon, join the Granny Peace Brigade. They

welcome everyone, women and men of all ages to join us as knitters or supporters. As we enter the 6th year of the war on Iraq we will knit for our wounded veterans and their families, and for Iraqi children and their families. Every stitch will be a symbol of our determination to end this war…..

If you don’t know who the Grannies For Peace Are, let me let them introduce themselves

When a group of women ages 59 to 91, many of us grandmothers, tried to enlist in the United States military on October 17, 2005 The Granny Peace Brigade was born. We asked to enlist in order to replace grandchildren who had been deployed in Iraq unnecessarily. However, we were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. After a six-day trial, we were acquitted. That was the beginning.

So get your knit on at a knit-in in New York City (Times Square Recruiting Center 43rd Street & Broadway) or Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs office at 810 Vermont Ave NW) @ 12 noon.
