american idol, simon cowell, fox logoI’ve never watched American Idol. I’ve never really wanted to. Once in awhile, when I lived with roommates, I would wander in when the show was on. I have to say it never really convinced me that I should spend more time watching the show.

That being said, people love the show. People just love American Idol and when you think about, it’s not hard to see why. Songs bring people together, singing them, or watching them be sung with others is an immediate bonding experience. The fun of American Idol is getting to hear songs you know sung by newcomers, newcomers that you can critique in the comfort of your home with your family and friends. And course you can also talk about the next day.

On Tuesday night’s edition, everyone had to sing Beatles songs. And while I’m not super down with American Idol myself, I’m super down with the Beatles. Somehow, the Beatles never get old to me - I don’t think they do for many folks.

Even with my lack of American Idol fever, I was happy to learn that for a night, folks across America were enjoying the songs that I grew up with and still listen to today. Music passing from generation to generation, linking us all together, something about that is very inspiring. So in that spirit, below are a few performances from Tuesday’s show, along with some classic Beatles footage. And in the spirit of the McCartney’s (mainly Linda and Stella) and learn about the benefits of being vegan!
