Thom York, Radiohead frontman, has teamed up with Friends of the Earth’s “Big Ask” campaign to ensure that government is doing its part to stop the dangerous effects of global climate change. Seventy percent of people surveyed by Friends say that our respective governments should be doing more, and Thom York’s PSAs are ensuring that his indie rock fan base are putting due pressure on their representatives to make the legislation happen. The Big Ask wants 17 European states to implement targets to cut back on harmful emissions from not only carbon, but from a variety of materials thought to be harmful to the environment. Says York of the campaign:
“We will never wake from the nightmare of climate change unless our national governments and the European Union act. They are the only ones who can put the structures in place that will help us tackle climate change.”
