You know the term “walk of shame?” That phrase referring to the embarrassing and dreaded travel a person (often a woman) must make home after a one-night stand. Luckily most of us can laugh at the sillyness in the apparent “shame” like comedian Shayna Ferm who pokes fun of this silly and sexy stride in this brilliant tune

Ferm’s song is so hilariously relateable (and so darn catchy) it earned her a mention in Glamour Magazine’s recent piece about funny walk of shame stories that allowed women to relate, commiserate and laugh the “shame” off.

And laugh it off they should, as most would agree the walk really shouldn’t be so shameful. Lindsey Stull at the dailypennsylvanian.com best explained this in her “Walk of Pride” survival kit article saying “whoever might be judging you certainly didn’t have a night as good as yours.”

And why is the “walk of shame” phrase so often directed at women, yet a dude can stroll home in the morn sans mortification? (Perhaps it has something to do with the lack of high heels and halter tops. Let’s face it, men’s “going out clothes” often resemble their typical daytime garb. A man doing the walk of shame” is harder to spot.)

So how can women turn that walk of shame into a walk of pride? How do we feel empowered by our sexuality rather than afraid of it? Where can we go to laugh and celebrate ourselves rather than shame ourselves?(like I do in my show Stripped Stories every month. And yes that was a shameless plug for my sex-themed storytelling comedy show).
