Public Alpha: have suggestions or feedback?
I am thrilled to hear the latest news about Nicole Kidman, just in time for Valentine’s Day! In case you missed the news, I’ll give you some hints about what the star told the people attending Germany’s Cinema For Peace ceremony last night. 1) Nicole is feeling some maternal instincts, 2) is going to be delivering something precious some time within the next 9 months, and 3) is looking forward to watching that something grow. Did you figure it out yet? Of course, I’m talking about Nicole’s announcement that she’s expecting– expecting people from all around the world to Say No to Violence Against Women! Oh, yeah, I think she also may be, like, pregnant or something. (BORING)
Really, though, this Valentine’s Day, show your mothers, sisters, partners, loved ones, wives and Nicole, that you love them by Saying No to Violence Against Women. Adding your name to the UNIFEM campaign and petition doesn’t only raise awareness. It literally raises dollars. For every signature, the The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women will receive $1. Their goal is to raise $100,000 through 100,000 signatures. They’ve raised $34,347 already. But there’s a lot more work to be done. At least one out of every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime. And you can help solve this global problem with the click of a mouse, in less than 5 minutes, and for no money. So add your name and for women’s lives and against violence against women.
But don’t listen to me. Listen to the words that the glowing, expecting, tireless mother of the campaign delivered to the people at the Cinema for Peace event:
Glittering evenings are generally not the place to dwell on hard truths. But we cannot be together without our conscience being deeply troubled by the situation in Darfur, in Eastern Congo and in so many under-reported conflicts where women’s bodies have become part of the battlefield, where rape is being used intentionally as a weapon of war. This is why I have lent my passionate support to the United Nations’ efforts aimed at ending violence against women.
That convinced attendees like Hillary Swank, Catherine Deneuve, and Sir Bob Geldof, to add their signatures to the campaign. So
So join me, Nicole, Cath, Hill, and Bob and 99,995 other people in raising 100,000 voices, and $100,000 for the Say No To Violence Against Women Campaign.

How exciting for Nicole!
Not sure if this is true but someone told me recently that native indian policies were used when drafting the constitution. Their culture valued the opinions of women, however. Not so with the founding fathers, who decided to write us out. Anyone know this story? I think we are still pretty much written out.
Many women I know have spent many years fighting against abuse, drinking and driving, the use of pesticides, baby powder formula companies marketing to countries with no good water, poverty and many other issues to deaf men.
It is too bad men find us and our children so easy to abuse. We really have a lot to offer.
I think from this day forward, any abuser should be castrated, then put in prison with the rest of the guys.
Zero tolerance.
Children are the only resource worth protecting, at all costs.
Are you boys listening!!
Go, Girl and make sure you take the time to enjoy your pregnancy!
