Public Alpha: have suggestions or feedback?
It seems like more and more celebrities are using their influence to make awesome social action causes more present in the news. Often times they do this by making videos and putting those videos on the internet. This is great! But what’s really great is when the video goes beyond a talking celebrity head and turns out to be something that is well crafted, with equal attention given to image, sound and celebrity. With that I present you, the takepart community, with my Top 10 Internet Videos Featuring Celebrities Advocating for a Cause.
1. George Clooney for Amnesty International : The video is short and simple and only features Clooney and a ball, but it’s one of the most effective I’ve seen.

2. Lots of Awesome Folks for Darfur Now : This video is mainly talking heads, but different folks with different voices and some stellar editing make this video stand out:

3. Joaquin Phoenix for PETA : I’m a veg-head myself, and a fan of Phoenix. But even if you eat meat and hate Joaquin, the video below is pretty effective and very cute.
4. Alicia Keys for Keep a Child Alive : This is Keys own charity, and here she uses simple visuals to get a very large message across.

5. The Speechless Series : This may not be the most dire cause, but each and every Speechless video is clever, well crafted and subtlety expresses the views of the WGA and the striking writers.

6. Michael Stipe for US Campaign for Burma : I’ve posted this video before, but the use of imagery and music to accompany Stipe’s powerful words made posting this again a no-brainer.

8. Tim Robbins for Amnesty International : Part of the same series as the Clooney video - just as effective.
9. Brad Pitt for Make it Right : This video may be mostly talking heads, but what makes it stand out it that the clip comes from Pitt’s appearance on the Charlie Rose show, and the internet has allowed tons of folks to hear Pitt talk about his cause, who may not have watched him on the PBS program.

10. The Cure for Amnesty International’s Instant Karma, The Campaign to Save Darfur : Another Amnesty video, but a different project. Here the Cure are a part of the “Instant Karma” album for Amnesty International - a record of John Lennon covers, in aid of the refugee crisis in Darfur.
