Haven’t got time to run around seeking out eco-conscious gifts for all your progressive pals? Lucky for you (and me, first-class procrastinator that I am) there are plenty of terrific online options for planet-friendly last minute holiday shopping. Today’s Daily Green has some good ideas, and you can find more at conservation.org and heifer.org.

Making a charitable donation on behalf of friends or family is a lovely gesture and, when you do it online, you don’t have to worry about your present getting there on time. But if you don’t mind giving a gift a bit late, you can find thoughtful presents in Co-op America’s comprehensive green gift catalog.

Whatever you do, don’t just dash off to the mall and buy whatever’s left on the shelves because you think you HAVE to buy something. If, as they say, it’s the thought that counts, then that kind of gift-giving doesn’t count for much at all. I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather have someone make a donation in my name to an anti-hunger group or animal rights organization or conservation society than to receive some hastily chosen tchotchke. So don’t have a cow””give a cow, from Heifer International.
